Darling's Acquires Naming Rights to Waterfront Pavilion

Darling's Waterfront Pavilion will host Waterfront Concert Series in 2013

BANGOR – Darling's - a family-owned auto dealership with locations in Bangor, Ellsworth, and Augusta - has acquired the naming rights to the waterfront pavilion. The Darling's Waterfront Pavilion will be the home of Bangor's popular Waterfront Concert Series starting in 2013.

"For more than 100 years, Darling's has been a proud member of this community," said Jay Darling, Darling's president. "The Waterfront Concert Series has brought people from all over the region to the Bangor Waterfront, delivering a top notch, quality product for music lovers of all ages, and all genres. We are proud to invest in what has become a signature attraction for Eastern Maine, and we are looking forward to a successful partnership for years to come."

The Darling's Waterfront Pavilion will be positioned a few hundred feet away from where Waterfront Concerts has been located over the past three years. The stage will be moved a few hundred feet and will be rotated about 90 degrees so it faces toward downtown Bangor rather than toward Main Street. The move will create more space, more unique seating options, and a better overall experience for concert-goers.

"We are extremely excited about Darling's furthering their relationship with Waterfront Concerts," said Waterfront Concerts president Alex Gray. "2013 is proving to be an exciting year on many different levels, and we are thinking that the tens of thousands of people who come to the Bangor waterfront will be nothing short of impressed with the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion. They have given back to this area for more than a century, and this investment continues that trend."

In 2012, Waterfront Concerts produced nearly 20 shows on the Bangor Waterfront. This year, Sting was announced as the first confirmed act, with a performance date of June 20 at the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion. Gray said that more acts will be named over the next several weeks.

"We are excited about this years lineup, which is shaping up to be more diverse than previous years," said Gray. "Sting is an amazing, legendary musician and will put on a great show. Bangor is well-positioned for more top notch performers thanks to partnerships like the one announced today with Darling's, but also thanks to our beautiful location, and thanks to support from the fans and from the community. We're in for a good year of music at Darling's Waterfront Pavilion."

"Eastern Maine has always had a lot going for it, and the Waterfront Concert Series has become another major attraction to bring people to town," said Darling. "We are just as excited as everyone else to hear more about this year's lineup, and we are confident that it will be sure to impress a wide variety of music lovers from around the region."
